New Game Start System released! Find Players easily and Log in as Guest
Monday, 09 April 2007

Good news everyone :)

Today we released a completely new game start / creation system. We promised some time ago that we want to make it easier to find people to play with and here we go:

When logged in to the site, you can now press the Join Game link in your User Menu. There you will find a list of game rounds that have not yet started and that you can participate in simply by clicking on “Participate”.

When you create a new game you have to specify the wanted number of players. Then you can enter the nick-names and email addresses of some of your friends that you would like to have in the round and then press start game. If you did not specify the complete list of players, the game will be listed in the Open Games List and waiting for other players to join in by pressing the participate button. The game will start when the desired number of players has joined in. Login information will then be send immediately to all specified email addresses and a new battle for supremacy can start.

A second new feature is the available Guest Login:

By choosing List Games in the menu you will be provided with a list of all currently running games and some basic information about them. Each game will provide a “Login as guest” button that allows you to log into that game and to read the newspaper and see who’s currently really ruling.

Tell us if you like the new features by following this link:

New graphics coming in
Monday, 02 April 2007

Hello everyone,

Today I'm proud to officially announce what many of you might already have noticed: Since tonight, a new version of the game is up and running. Besides some bugs that have been fixed the main work of the last week consisted of a graphical makeover of the whole game. We hope you like the new look of the game - and are willing to continuously overlook the ugly remains that have not been improved yet.  This screen shot of the Army Headquarters should give you an idea how everything is going to look like soon:

You can also see on the shot that there is a panel showing your resources which is visible all the time now.

Stay tuned as we are working on improving the rest of the game's graphics and new features, for example an improved game creation/joining mechanism. Let us know what you think about the new design and whether you are experiencing any problems!

Back to the keyboard
Sunday, 25 March 2007

Hello!

We are back and we are happy: we had lots of snow and no broken bones. With new motivation we now continue improving Supremacy 1914. You might have noticed a feature that we have built in just before we left for Austria: The “Coup d’etat”. If a player stays inactive for 5 days, she or he is replaced by a computer player. The replacement is reverted if the player logs in again later. Similar to this, the computer commands all nation at the beginning of a game until a player logs in for the first time. The advantage of this is that:

  1. Players that are absent for a longer time or even forever, aren’t that easy to attack
  2. Players that are absent for a medium amount of time or log in a few days after a game has started, will not suffer too much from bad resource management. The AI tries to even up the stocks.

And now, as promised before, you can admire some great igloo photos!

Supremacy over the Alpes
Friday, 16 March 2007

Dear users and visitors,

it’s holiday time for the Supremacy 1914 team. The whole next week we will race down mountains of the beautiful Zillertal in Austria and build an igloo far better than the one from the Teamspeak team (if there is enough of this cold, white stuff lying around). Please forgive us that we can not give you much support during this time.
There are quite a few things on the agenda when we come back:

  • It should be possible to open games that are free to join for everybody. These games then start when enough players have joined.
  • There should be a way to retrieve passwords in case somebody lost his/hers or entered a wrong email-address at the time the game was created.
  • We are happy that many players already abuse the newspaper in a way we designed it to be used. On that account we will make sure that the newspaper from your game will be downloadable at the end of the game.

In the mean time, keep your fingers crossed for us having some snow and we will give you igloo pics in return.

Your Supremacy 1914 team.

Supremacy 1914 launched successfully
Sunday, 11 March 2007

Hello to all of you!

We are proud to announce the successful launch of the open beta phase of Supremacy 1914! For the first week, it seems like the game server is running stable and the homepage is doing its job.

At this point we want to especially welcome our first players! We hope you enjoy your current game of Supremacy 1914. Some of you have already used the forum to express opinions and report bugs. We greatly appreciate this and hope you will bug us a lot in the future ;).

So for now, have lots of fun playing, try to bring peace to Europe, and never forget: nobody ever won a game of Supremacy 1914 by simply shuffling around armies. It’s all about forming strong alliances and legitimating your actions by good propaganda via the local newspaper :).

 Your Supremacy 1914 Team.

Manual at hand
Monday, 19 February 2007

Dear Supremacy 1914 interestees,
Christopher and the rest of the team were working hard over the last weeks, and now it is finally done: The main menu now offers the new item "Manual". This first draft of the game manual brings us ever closer to the point at which the beta will finally go public: It was one of the last points that we declared mandatory for the game to be playable.

Now, that every future statesman is able to inform himself about the ins and outs of the game, we set ourself an ultimatum to publish the beta within the next two weeks. Prepare yourself for the amazing things to happen here soon.
