Major usability update online
Monday, 11 February 2008
Today we finally finished and activated a major update of the Supremacy1914 user interface and server. Once again we have to thank all players who gave us feedback and made suggestions for improving the game. One main focus was on making the army system easier to use for new players.

A sneak preview of the new map
Wednesday, 30 January 2008

We are, as mentioned in the forums, working on a new map for Supremacy 1914 that will replace the current map as the default scenario. Many of you have asked for screenshots, and we don't want to let you wait any longer, as the geographical and political aspects of the map are finished now.

Update problems made recover of backup necessary
Tuesday, 22 January 2008

Dear users,

as you may have noticed, we tried to do a major update of most parts of the system, including the homepage, the gameserver and the client around midnight (CET) last night. It was the biggest update we have tried so far. Sadly it didn't work like we had hoped to. As a result we had to revert the update and get the pre-update backup running again. What does this mean to you?

Ranking Update & Announced Downtime
Tuesday, 15 January 2008

New Supremacy 1914 Splash ScreenToday we are announcing a server downtime for the beginning of the next week. Probably on Monday evening (CET), the server will be unavailable for roughly one hour. During that time we will get some security updates for the site running and will set up our brand new login system

The new login system will get rid of the annoying passwords you have to remember to log in to your games. From next week on, you will only have to log in to your site account, go to your My Games area and simply: start the game.

This nice new splash screen (that I've put here already as a teaser) will show up during the connection, authentication, and initialization phase of the client and replaces the old login window. Of course, people will still be able to play without an account on this site. They will, however, still need a password. In fact they will get new login links and passwords once the new login system has been set up.

The second change that is already online can be seen in the ranking section of this site. We have significantly increased the amount of points you get for destroying special units since it is indeed much harder to destroy them then to destroy infantry. The amount of points you will get for defeating enemy tanks, battleships and the like are now a 10 times multiple of the days needed to construct them. In detail, the following points are awarded:

  • Infantry: 1 point per unit
  • Artillery: 20 points per unit
  • Tanks: 30 points per unit
  • Railguns: 60 points per unit
  • Battleships: 60 points per unit

All points have been awarded retrospectively and we have furthermore enabled public read access for the profile pages to allow unregistered users to see why you are on top of that ranking list.

That is all for today, more to come next week.
Have fun playing and Happy New Year,
your Supremacy 1914 Admin Team.

Automatic Firecrackers
Friday, 28 December 2007

The new year is closing in and we just released a new update that highly improves the usability of long-range firework units. These will now automatically shell enemy armies which come into range. By this we overcome many of the drawbacks of artillery units that have been discussed in the forum lately.
