Update: Despite some trouble updating, the new version is now up and running smoothly as expected. Tell us what you think in the forum.
As already presented over the last week, we will publish a major game update soon. Apart from the new spy, monetary and point system, there will be many smaller changes and updates.
In-Game Help: A box to the left, just below the main menu, will show context sensitive help texts, when the mouse moves over different areas in the game. This first release will mainly cover the spy and trade systems. Future updates will introduce assisting information also for the army system, for province upgrades and factory productions. This feature is mostly aiming at getting new players started, but will hopefully also be useful for more experienced players.
Usability of Stock Market: Double-clicking on an order in the order queues will place an corresponding buy or sell order. In addition, there are less irritating fields for inserting amount and price when giving orders on the stock market which makes the whole thing more usable.

The upcoming update will introducing a new scoring system for determining the winner of a round of Supremacy1914. The daily index of power will be calculated from the size, morale and industrial strength of a nation. Unlike now, the points will not be given absolute, but relative to the rest of Europe. The winner will be the first player to reach 1000, thus 50% of all points.
This system will make sure that only one player can reach the winning condition at the time. The problem with the current system was, that up to three powers could be head-to-head with almost 1000 points each. Such games will now last longer, while boring rounds with one very dominant player end faster.
These changes will take effect also for running games. Usually, the resulting changes will be quite small with all players loosing some points compared to before. The order of ranking will stay the same in all cases.

One important part of the update will be a new monetary
system. Especially in games that were running for more than four weeks, money
was becoming increasingly worthless. This new system will finally stop
inflation. The main idea is that there is a fixed total amount of money present
in the game. As a result, the total amount of paid taxes depends on how much
has been spent globally the previous days.
Important: When converting old games to the new system, the
amount of money of all AI controlled
countries will be limited to 100.000£. If the country has 234.442£ now, it will have 100.000£ after the conversion. If the
country had 39.000£ in the old system, it will still have 39.000£ after the
conversion. So, if you happen to be away for a few days and you know that your
country will be AI controlled it might be a good idea not to have more than 100.000£ on
your balance as the rest will be lost.

Numerous things will be fixed, changed and introduced over the following days. One major improvement will be the new spy system, including a completely new interface.
Spies can be recruited and dismissed in the Secret Service Headquarters with a single click. New spies will be added to the group of idle spies without mission. To assign a mission to these, a province can be selected in the map to assign one of four missions in the Province Overview, which is found next to the headquarters.

Fixed severe mail problems |
|
Tuesday, 03 June 2008 |
|
During the last three to five days we have experienced some severe mail problems. These caused a couple of hundred messages not being delivered to anyone who wanted to start a new game or who simply wanted to register on Supremacy1914.com. We were furthermore not able to receive any mails sent to the official email addresses so we couldn't give support to anyone who had troubles registering.
These problems are now fixed and mails are again sent and received reliably. New members who didn't receive the confirmation mail can simply try to log in and will receive a new mail with a confirmation link. Sorry for all the trouble... |

New server up and running |
|
Wednesday, 28 May 2008 |
|
Today in the morning, we moved to our new flashy game server. Both the website and the game should be running as normal. The only difference you should notice is that the www.supremacy1914.com domain is temporarily replaced by the IP if the server both in the website address field as well as in the starting screen of the server when the client is being downloaded. This will solve itself once the word spreads among the DNS servers that the domain is now pointing to a different host. The other point is, that some links in the news entries and in the forum that refer to content on this side may be broken. We will fix that whenever we encounter such a link but it will not be a priority. If you experience problems with logging in, please try to manually force the game client to update as described in the FAQ entry “Can I force the game client to be updated / downloaded again?” . If you still encounter problems after you have tried that, contact us in the forum and we’ll give our best to help you. As always ? Have fun with the new server, Your Supremacy 1914 Admin Team {mos_fb_discuss:2} |
