Lumber for the People
Wednesday, 01 October 2008

screenshot_uk_newlumberWe just uploaded a minor release, mainly to improve map balance. Some small tweaks will also make the AI more focused on producing and selling food. In addition, we made the usual bug fixes.

Many players of the new map reported Britain as imbalanced. This is mainly due to its lack of food and lumber, and its inability to easily reach provinces providing those. We addressed the wood situation by making Glasgow a lumber province. Moving the French lumber province closer to England gives it an opportunity to conquer more later on. These changes will also apply to already running games!

The general food situation should have improved vastly due to the last updates. In addition to that, the AI will sell more of its food now. As many food provinces are far away from their capitals, it will also help that  province morale is now less affected by the distance. Further (bigger) changes will follow during the next days.

Two days ago, there was already another update, which solved the irritating Romania/Serbia switch bug and hopefully improved the map painter performance on multi-screen system.

Here is the complete list of changes:

0.9.61 29/09/2008
- resource consumption/production is correctly shown after priority change
- bombardment no longer damages friendly upgrades
- solved map painting bug after moving window to different screen
- limited number of news articles about built/damaged upgrades
- added context menu shortcut on map to province spy info
- fixed Romania/Serbia switch bug

0.9.62 01/10/2008
- map balancing: Glasgow and Lille produce lumber, Toulouse produces mining
- improved building AI for multi-level buildings
- increased AI release of resources on the market
- reduced morale impact of capital distance by 25%
- adjusted province upgrade damage by bombardment
