On October 1st, the rulers of Europe agreed on a common non-aggression period. Looking back at those days it now looks like they were only gathering forces in this short time of peace since a mere 3 days later, war broke out all over the continent. The 1st official Supremacy 1914 tournament began.

With only 14 days to go in the first round, some players try to write history by making their way to the 2nd round. While the real Great War ended 90 years ago this week (Nov. 11th, 1918), the tournament has as well some games that have finally reached a state of peace and united Europe.

At this point, we can already congratulate the following players for advancing to the 2nd round:

We just uploaded a minor release, mainly to improve map balance. Some small tweaks will also make the AI more focused on producing and selling food. In addition, we made the usual bug fixes.

Many players of the new map reported Britain as imbalanced. This is mainly due to its lack of food and lumber, and its inability to easily reach provinces providing those. We addressed the wood situation by making Glasgow a lumber province. Moving the French lumber province closer to England gives it an opportunity to conquer more later on. These changes will also apply to already running games!

A tremendous total of 120 players have signed up for the 1st Supremacy 1914 Tournament that leaves us with the perfect number of twelve fully filled games for the first round.

The games will start at 4 pm CEST on Wednesday, 1st of October 2008 (check full article for different time zones).

Please remember that it is not allowed to attack any nation (AI controlled or not) before the start of day 3, which will be this Saturday. Doing so will disqualify you from the tournament.

Our great voluntary organizing team (jnoosh , Mor_Rioghain , and Rage ) will soon publish the list of matches and will inform you about everything important in the Official Announcements thread in the Tournament Forum.

Before the official Supremacy 1914 tournament will start within the next week, we published another game update at 12pm GMT on the 24^th of September.
This update focuses on the Foreign Affairs aspect of the game and introduces a new general info panel besides making changes to the set of diplomatic relations.
