The New Economy 5 Months, 1 Week ago
This thread discusses the Content article: The New Economy

Awww you made my day

I'm probably the first person ever to say this... Finally I won't have so much money that I can buy as much as possible, yet still have a net gain!

Good job fellas. You have my permission to pay yourselves on the back.

Re:The New Economy 5 Months ago
I don't think than that update is great. I cannot build all buildings and artilleries than I want because I need money. To do more money I sell many things on the market like everybody... The problem is than everybody need money and there is too much sellers.Nobody have enouph money to buy ressources.

I have an other way to fix the problem of inflation: Raise very much the cost in cash of buildings and weapons...If you do that people will sell there production to build themself...

Give it a try - we tested this and it worked out well. Money is simply another resource which is relatively scarce. But there is still enough money to buy upgrades and weapons.

The main difference is in the later game, when all players - especially AI players - had heaps of money.

Re:The New Economy 5 Months ago
i STRONGLY agree with skulls

i think the money cut seems a bit deep; i went from $65000 a day to $18000 in one game... im in the hole -$64000 so its going to be FIVE days before i can buy/build anything???

in this game i currently have 22 provinces and $18000 is not going to buy or build much per day... i think the reduction should have been smaller to find a balance, especially as costs have gone up for products like oil and ESPECIALLY with the cost of spies now...

i dont know how so many have money surpluses in thier games other then to say that they are not building enough... since the switch to the new market system ive had 1 game in 10 that has had a ton of money...

how about a world resource market or some other (flexible tax rate?) method to raising cash? or even as we build improvements we see more $ (increase business from railways etc)

what is the revenue generated per province at 100% health? and now that i think of it, is this not going to punish those countries that are market dependant in the begining of the game? (think AH)...

and is money hoarding a strategy for the big countries during a game now? (if they dont spend, others wont have access to it; if i read the home page right)

Having had a look over all my games I persoanlly don't have a problem financially;

But, I do see two points here that Alpha31 brought up that could be potential problems, One with the market dependent countries at the beginning of a game, and the new money hoarders as the game goes on.

Of course, I will allow that these isuues may have been play-tested prior to update.

In the beginning the tax payout should be the same. In the end, moneyhoarders should be unlikely as money is valuable now. Maybe wait for 3-4 days and (especially in new games) we can have a look again how it develops.

I think the spy update ended up turning all of your spies into cash (because their price had changed).

I had like 640k in one game I'm in, it was great, everyone else must have been broke.

I agree I started with Greece in a game right after the update and within the first 3 days i was broke and forced to either fight Serbia to expand or slowly rot away since everyone has held out on the market for over a week now.

I've taken half of Serbia and I'm still not stable. This is the first start I've ever had that this has happened. Something needs to change.

Re:The New Economy 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Here is something what could solve the problem....

It is quite fair that you cut down money from taxes...

Lets see how we can repair our money shortage...

You could put in the game that harbours, railways and factories bring additional money if they build... this is a tippical difference between strong and poor economy... also you can set option where players can set tax rate by themselves... of course if you put 50 % tax rate morale will drop drasticly is you put 100 %

Well... people will just revolt and consequence could be the same as you have already made morale system...

Morale system is splended boys... thanx

Re:The New Economy 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Suggestion.. how much income structures should bring

Harbor (2000*morale%) pounds per day
Railway (3000*morale%) pounds per day
Factory (5000*morale%) pounds per day

Also since there was in 1914 harbors, rails and factories already available, there is no point on restriction in the game, such as first harbor build, then rail, then factory.... it will speed up economical and tactical advancement in the game. It is quite annoying spend 12 days in waiting for my first artillery.

Re:The New Economy 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
kkk... its been a little while now, and im really not a fan of the new money system as it currently is and am asking for it to be tweaked a little...

in all my games my ability to build improvements is SEVERLY effected, im building half the improvements i use too... AND if this was across the board and equal then im good with it; but its not...

in one game im averaging $2000 in tax income per day (i have 25 provinces); but in another game my tax income per day is around $950 per day, AND i have 46 provinces in that game...

so as i understand it, if money is not spent by the other players in the game then my tax income goes down... so in other words i get punished because other players refuse to spend money or dont know what they r doing (and if thats the case then it is B.C.)...

if this is the case then this isnt very fair... I really think we've gone from one end of the spectrum (lots of cash) to the other (not enough)...

having a set tax rate per province still makes more economical model sense to me then a fixed cap on available money....

in the end, ALL players with strong economic scores r going to be punished by the severe lack of funds... the advantage switchs over to the military points side of the game... I have no doubt that military points r going up and the number of economic points scored (each day)r WAY down...
